The join officers from BPBD, military forces, and the police are on high alert following the series of fires in several areas in the forest for the past few days. “The officers will continue to coordinate and remain vigilant since the forest fire potential is high considering it’s the dry season,” said Ponorogo BPBD officer Gemilanf Aditya Mardhana in Ponorogo, on Thursday, August 3, 2023.
The most recent fire happened in a protected forest in Nglurup Village, Sampung District on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. The quite large-scale fire was caused by waste burning by a farmer, exacerbated by the strong winds.
